Stokoe Loughlin was established in 2011 by Anna Stokoe.

The decision came as she felt that the care and attention given to ‘smaller’ clients often gets lost when an accountancy practice reaches a certain size.

Her belief is that all clients should have access to the best accountancy and taxation services at a price that is affordable to them.

In 2018 Anna was joined by her husband David who shares her belief and is looking forward to working with clients on a more personal level.
I started my career as a bookkeeper and wages clerk for the family business.  This developed my love and interest in accountancy and led me to study for a BA Honours Accountancy degree at Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University).

Having gained my degree I trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a North East based independent practice.  Since then I have worked within a number of accountancy practices in the North East.  I also spent three years as a financial controller for a property and construction group which enabled me to experience the day to day running of a business.

I have over 30 years experience in the accountancy world dealing with a wide variety of clients ranging from individuals to businesses of all types and sizes.  Even after all this time I am still passionate about accountancy and taxation mainly because of the human element my clients bring to my career.
Having trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with an independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Gosforth, I then moved to the Newcastle office of one of the International accountancy practices.  After seeing what life was like in a ‘big firm’ and a transfer out of the North East region in the offing, I left to join my father’s practice.  I became a partner in Stokoe Rodger in 1990.

After spending nearly 40 years in accountancy and having gained a wide range of experience from dealing with individuals, businesses and non-profit making organisations of all shapes and sizes I was ready for a change.  For me accountancy is about working with people on a one to one basis in a language that they understand and developing a close working relationship.  I have now been dealing with some of my clients for almost 30 years.

To join Anna in her practice has been an invigorating experience which has allowed me to get back to my accountancy roots, spend more time with my clients and be able to give them the assistance that they deserve.
